About us

The owner, Andrea Jack, took early retirement as a Community Matron in the NHS after nearly 40 years in order to pursue her dream of opening a luxury cattery, one that she would be happy to leave her cats in. Originally from Devon, Andrea lived in Essex for 34 years before she moved to Eastwood, Nottingham in December 2014.

Her dream to own a cattery stems from seeing the poor facilities available when she needed to find a cattery for her two original cats Jasper and Dylan. Now sadly long passed over the rainbow.

Andrea has seven cats now, Max; Lola, Milly, George, Missy, Harry and my recent addition Sid the Stray who she took indoors during the snow of Winter 2016.  All were rescued from the RSPCA and Cats Protection, in Harry's case, a facebook plea. Sid just arrived in the gardern and is believed to have been abandoned.

To prepare for the new venture, She has successfully undertaken various studies in all things cats! Including i-catcare.org (formerly Feline Advisory Board) endorsed Cattery Management Training. Animal Psychology and Pet first Aid Training.

Since the introduction of the new regulations, (The Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (Animals) Regulations 2018. it stipulates that staff should be competent to OFQUAL regulated Level 2/3 qualifications in subjects relevant to animal welfare and cattery management, including the cats behavioural and physical health, feeding and knowledge of environmental cleaning and enrichment. They should also be able to demonstrate that they have researched and followed expert guidance to carry out their role. At this point in time (October 2018) is unclear which courses suitable OFQUAL are regulated and further guidance is awaited, before undertaking any further studies.

Cats @ Ratcliffe Luxury Cat Hotel commenced trading in August 2015 and is licenced by Broxtowe Borough Council, Licence No: 22/00784/EHAB under The Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (Animals) Regulations 2018.

These regulations lay down several criteria to be met to obtain a licence. A copy of this licence is displayed in the cattery office.

A requirement of the regulations is that certain records of owners and their cats are kept for a maximum of 3 years, which is done on a manual system

It is located within the grounds of the owner’s property, situated in Eastwood, Nottingham. very close to the A610 and J26 M1 with easy access to Nottingham, Derby, East Midlands airport, The Peak District, Robin Hood Country and many other attractions such as Matlock, Buxton and Chatsworth House are within short distances.
